제16차 한-아세안센터 연례이사회 개최
The 16th Annual Meeting of the Council of the ASEAN-Korea Centre was held in Seoul on 21 February 2024. Comprising high-ranking government officials from the 10 ASEAN Member States and Korea, the Council assessed the outcomes of FY2023 programs and endorsed the proposed programs and budgets for FY2024.
This year’s meeting coincided with meaningful milestone achievements for ASEAN and Korea – being the 35th anniversary of their diplomatic relations as well as the 15th anniversary of the ASEAN-Korea Centre. Aligning with the anticipated establishment of the ASEAN-Korea Comprehensive Strategic Partnership (CSP)* at the ASEAN-ROK Summit in October 2024 under the assumption of Lao PDR’s ASEAN Chairmanship for 2024 with a focus on connectivity and resilience, the ASEAN-Korea Centre will underscore the remarkable progress achieved in the ASEAN-Korea partnership over the past decades, while exploring and setting agenda on new areas to drive future collaborations.
* The CSP is the highest partnership that until now ASEAN has established with five of its dialogue partners – Australia, China, the United States, India, and Japan.
On the occasion of the Meeting, a dinner reception was also held where about 150 key stakeholders from the ASEAN Embassies in Seoul, relevant organizations, academia, and media, as well as the Vice Foreign Minister of Korea, attended to further strengthen the network for future cooperation.
제16차 한-아세안센터 연례이사회가 2월 21(수) 서울에서 개최되었습니다. 한국과 아세안 10개국 정부 고위 관료들로 구성된 이사들이 한-아세안센터의 2023회계연도 사업을 평가하고, 2024회계연도 사업계획 및 예산을 논의 및 승인하였습니다.
이번 이사회는 한-아세안 대화관계수립 35주년과 한-아세안센터 창립 15주년을 맞는 기념비적인 해의 포문을 여는 자리였습니다. 10월 예정된 한-아세안 정상회의에서 한-아세안 포괄적 전략 동반자 관계(CSP)* 수립 발표가 기대되고, 2024년 아세안 의장국인 라오스는 ‘연계성과 회복력(ASEAN: Enhancing Connectivity and Resilience)’에 방점을 두고 의장직을 수임하고 있는 만큼, 센터는 올해 한-아세안 관계의 눈부신 발전상을 알리고 미래 협력을 이끌 신규 분야의 발굴과 의제설정에 주력할 예정입니다.
* 아세안이 대화상대국과 맺는 최고 단계의 파트너십으로, 현재까지 5개국(호주, 중국, 미국, 인도, 일본)과 수립
한편, 동 계기로 개최된 환영 리셉션에는 김홍균 외교부 1차관을 비롯한 이사회 참석자, 주한 아세안 대사 및 유관기관, 학계, 언론 인사 등 각계 각층에서 총 150여명이 참석하여 한-아세안 관계 증진을 위한 협력을 다지고 네트워크를 강화하였습니다.
