The October Weekly ASEAN Highlights presents ASEAN’s arts, culture, and unique traditions under the theme of “History and Heritage.” Venture beyond the usual tourist attractions and discover the hidden charms of ASEAN!
Take a moment to enjoy articles that introduce the unique arts, culture, and history that tell the stories of the ASEAN member states. Amongst Myanmar’s symbolic golden pagodas, experience the Shinpyu ceremony which represents the country’s Buddhist culture; explore Kelantan, a starry state in Malaysia that preserved traditional culture and games such as kite flying and wayang kulit; take a trip to Haw Phra Kaew, once home to the statue of the Emerald Buddha and which holds the history of the Lan Xang Kingdom of Lao PDR; and taste appetizing dishes that highlight the rich culinary culture of Indonesia such as nasi goreng and rendang.
